When your data is collected and why

When you fill in a contact or comment form on this website, you are asked to provide your name and email address. If you contact us, we may keep a record of that correspondence.

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for up to two years. Please visit the Cookie Policy page for more information.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Like many websites we use Google Analytics to collect anonymous data about the users of our sites, such as how often they visit, what pages they visit, what time they visit, how long they stay, and what country they are visiting from.

This data is collected using cookies and from your IP address, and the resulting statistics are used for the following purposes:

  • Improving website usability
  • Tracking the success of marketing campaigns
  • Pattern analysis

You can prevent Google Analytics from collecting this information by installing the google opt-out browser addon: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout

We also monitor customer browsing habits through a WordPress-developed capability called Jetpack. This will retain analytics about website use on the WordPress servers.
